About us

ARphymedes, an acronym for AR Physics Made for Students, resembles the name of probably the most famous physicist in history, Archimedes. Stories about this genius remind us that humankind will be nothing without the dreamers. We should give kids the opportunity to explore their dreams, and AR (augmented reality) is one way to do so.

With this aim we build the consortium of physics teachers, technicians, historians and IT experts eager to design a modern and exciting toolbox of textbooks and augmentes reality application for pupils and teachers.

By telling the story of important historical milestones in physics, the tool will set the student on a road of exploration, of physics through time and significant events, with an opportunity to interactively test and experiment what is presented.

Partners

The ARphymedes consortium comprises of 7 partners from 6 European countries, forming an international partnership with a strong geographic representation of the Erasmus+ area. A short description of each Project Partner, their expertise and role within the ARphymedes project is presented below:

University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (UCM), is a small, public university from Slovakia (est. 1997). In this project the university is represented by its youngest unit, the Institute of Management (est. 2020).

UCM is the coordinator of the project, responsible for the overall project management and financial management (including all progress and final project reports as well as financial reports).

UCM will manage the consortium to ensure the quality and timeliness of delivering all the outputs.

UCM will be responsible in particular for the preparing the Management and Quality Plan and prepare the Bilateral Agreements with Partners. It will be responsible for the organisation of meetings of the consortium, preparing the agenda, action plan and keeping the minutes of meeting etc.

It will be responsible for the project internal quality evaluation of the project activities and outputs. It will be the leader in IO1 providing the general framework, unifying the inputs from all participating partners and providing supervising all internal quality checks (IO1, IO2, IO3).

Moreover, UCM will contribute to the Intellectual Outputs by ensuring the linguistic quality of the prepared texts. UCM will host the 3rd work progress meeting as well as organize and host the Final Conference E5 with training E4.

Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU), Faculty of Civil Engineering, is a Slovak technical university with a long tradition (est. 1937).

The participating Department of Physics provides basic physic classes for the majority of the universities‘ Bc. study programmes. It will provide physics content in IO1 Students book, and will be the project methodological coordinator, steering the consortium in regard to the content of the intellectual outputs.

Its main responsibility will be in delivering all necessary outputs in regard to physics content. STU will cooperate closely with ULJ for the delivery of the IO2 Teachers book, IO3 Application and AR modules and IO4 Teachers training programme. It will be the host and active contributor to the national training workshop.

With ULJ it will perform the Evaluation of the preliminary results from the implementation of the educational toolkit after E1. It will host the 1st Yearly meeting, organize the Small scale training workshop E1, and Teachers training workshop E2.

University of Ljubljana (ULJ), Faculty of Education, is a large Slovenian university with 63 000 students and a long tradition (est. 1919).

The participating Faculty of Education educates and trains teachers and other professional personnel in pre-school, kindergarten , primary, and secondary schools.

The Faculty is in the project represented by the Department of Physics and Technical Studies and the Department of Primary Teachers Education. ULJ will be the leader in delivering the IO2 Teachers book as well as IO4 Teachers’ training programme. Its main responsibility is to provide the expertise in didactics. It will support the consortium in IO1 Student Book and perform quality check for IO3.

With STU it will perform the evaluation of the preliminary results from the implementation of the educational toolkit. It will host the 1st work progress meeting and Teachers’ training workshop E3.

Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), is one of the larges and at the same time the only technological university in Estonia. The participating TalTech Law School teaches and performs legal research, and participates in key legislative debates, both nationally and internationally.

The key personnel involved in the project will provide expertise in history of science and technology. Tal Tech will support the IO1 leader and will contribute with its professional expertise in the history of science in preparing the texts for the IO1 Student Book.

It will contribute to IO2, by providing expertise in history matters, and participate in the quality checks in IO3. It will host the 2nd work progress meeting.

“Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi (TUIASI), is the major higher education institution in the technical fields in the North-Eastern Romania.

The university is represented in this project by the Department of Electrical Utilization, Electrical Drives and Industrial Automation, with its expertise in electrical drives, industrial processes control, robotics, bioengineering, electrical vehicles, industrial electrical installations. TUIASI will support the IO1 leader and will contribute with its professional expertise in technology in preparing the texts for the IO1 Student Book.

It will contribute to IO2, by providing expertise in innovative technologies, and participate in the quality checks in IO3. It will also provide 3D models of selected technologies for IO3. It will host the 2nd Yearly meeting, which will be held along the International Conference and Exposition on Electrical and Power Engineering in 2022 (12th edition) organized by TUIASI on a biennial basis.

Vitale Tecnologie Comunicazione S.r.l. VITECO, is an Italian SME located in Sicily. It’s a software and e-learning provider. Its core business is based on VET and development of web-based solutions for collaborative learning and educational content management.

VITECO will be responsible to prepare the Dissemination and Communication plan as well as the Web page of the project and the Communication tool kit. It will contribute to all outputs (IO1, IO2, IO3, IO4) by providing all the necessary graphic works, including the graphic identity.

Further it will contribute to IO1 by providing expertise in gamification. In IO4 it will manage, record and prepare technical solutions for the open online course.

Diadrasis IKE (Diadrasis), is a private IT company based in Greece, developing web, mobile and multimedia applications and content focusing on cultural management and education.

Special areas of interest and expertise include the development of mixed reality mobile guides, 3d historical reconstructions and interactive educational games. Diadrasis will provide the technical solution IO3 AR application for the IO1 Students book and IO2 Teachers book.

Diadrasis will prepare all the AR exercises as well as develop the supporting application for the IO1 Student book which will host and manage all the AR modules.
